Adobe Portfolio and Transcript/Exhibit
Linking
There are five products on the market that law firms
use to receive a transcript with linked exhibits.
Those products are listed below. A linked transcript
with exhibits is simply a file that contains hyperlinks
to the scanned exhibits. In a linked transcript, if
an exhibit is referred to – for instance, Exhibit
1 – every time Exhibit 1 is referenced in a
transcript, the end-user can click on the word “Exhibit
1” and it will open up the exhibit.
Adobe Portfolio
– We can create a portfolio for you that contains
your exhibits, transcripts, e-transcripts, master
index, and ASCII files all in one Adobe .pdf file.
You just need to have the free Adobe
Acrobat viewer installed. You will be able
to read your transcript and when you are ready to
view the corresponding exhibit just click on it from
the table of contents.
Bundles
– RealLegal’s product for receiving the
linked exhibits and transcripts is a Bundle. Just
like the e-transcript file, there is no special software
required.
.lef File
– LiveNote’s product for receiving the
linked exhibits and transcripts is a .lef file, which
stands for LiveNote Evidence Format. In order to use
this product, you must have LiveNote software installed.
.sbf File
– Summation’s product for receiving the
linked exhibits and transcripts is a .sbf file, which
stands for Summation Briefcase Format. In order to
use this product, you must have Summation software
installed.
.pdf File
- Adobe Acrobat allows our office to hyperlink either
a full-size transcript or a condensed transcript with
the exhibits. Much like a link on the internet, when
you open your PDF file you can go to the index of
the transcript, click the exhibit, and it will open
for your reference.
